Plate is run by one person. This policy is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, email support@eatplate.app and it will get fixed.

The short version. Plate collects what it needs to work and nothing else. There are no ad networks and no third party analytics in the app. Your food log is not sold, rented or shared for marketing. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app.

Plate does not collect your location, your contacts, your photos beyond a barcode scan that is processed and discarded, your browsing history, or any device advertising identifier.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

This field is optional and off by default. It is treated as sensitive information, kept for the sole purpose of making your calorie and macro targets safer, and never used for anything else. You can clear it at any time from your profile, and clearing it removes it from storage rather than flagging it as hidden.

Where your data lives

Who else touches it

That is the complete list. No advertising networks. No analytics vendors. No data brokers. Plate does not sell your personal data, and does not share it for cross context behavioural advertising.

Deleting your account

Open Plate, go to Settings, choose Delete account, and confirm with your password. This removes your account record, your session tokens and your food and workout log. It is immediate and it is not reversible. You do not have to email anyone to make it happen.

If you want a copy of your data before you go, use Export in Settings.

How long things are kept

Your data is kept while your account exists. When you delete it, it is deleted. Operational backups may hold a copy for up to 30 days before they roll off. Records of the fact that a deletion happened are kept as an audit line with no personal content in it.

Security

If there is ever a breach

Plate is a vendor of personal health records under the United States Federal Trade Commission's Health Breach Notification Rule. If your unsecured health information is ever acquired or disclosed without authorisation, you will be notified without unreasonable delay and no later than 60 calendar days after it is discovered, and the FTC will be notified within the same rule's timelines. This applies to an accidental disclosure just as much as it applies to a break in.

Your rights

Wherever you live, Plate gives every user the same set of rights rather than sorting people by jurisdiction:

Use Settings inside the app, or email support@eatplate.app and it will be handled within 30 days.

Age

Plate is not intended for anyone under 16, and accounts are not knowingly created for children. If you believe a child has made an account, email support@eatplate.app and it will be removed.

Plate is not medical advice

Plate is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent anything. Its calculations are estimates based on published equations, and the methodology screen inside the app names every one of them along with its data sources. Talk to a doctor before changing your diet or training, particularly if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, managing a medical condition, or have a history of disordered eating. Plate includes a support screen with current helpline information.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who sees it, you will be told inside the app before the change takes effect, not after.
